Question 1: The ratio of incomes of two persons A and B is 3: 4 and the ratio of their expenditures is 5: 7. If their savings are 7 15,000 annually. Find their annual incomes.
Question 2: Vijay had some bananas and he divided them into two lots A and B. He sold the first lot at the rate of Rs 2 for3 bananas and the second lot at the rate of Rs 1 per banana and got a total of Rs 400. If he had sold the first lot at the rate of Rs 1 per banana and the second lot at the rate of Rs 4 for 5 bananas, his total collection would have been Rs 460. Find the total number of bananas he had.
Question 3: A railway half ticket costs half the full fare but the reservation charges are the same on a half as on a full ticket. One reserved first-class ticket costs Rs 2530. One reserved first-class ticket and one reserved first-class half ticket from stations A to B costs Rs 3810. Find the full first-class fare from stations A to B and also the reservation charges for a ticket.
Question 4: Solve graphically the pair of linear equations 3x - 4y + 3 = 0 and 3x + 4y - 21 = 0. Find the coordinates of vertices of the triangular region formed by these lines and the x-axis. Also, calculate the area of this triangle.
Question 5: Draw the graphs of the equations x = 3, x = 5 and 2x - y - 4 = 0. Also, find the area of the quadrilateral formed by the lines and the x-axis.
Question 6: A train travels at a certain average speed for a distance of 54 km and then travels a distance of 63 km at an average speed of 6 km/hr more than the first speed. If it takes 3 hours to complete the total journey, what is its first speed?
Question 7: A thief runs with a uniform speed of 100 m/minute. After one minute a policeman mins after the thief to catch him. He goes with a speed of 100 m/minute in the first minute and increases his speed by 10m/minute every succeeding minute. After how many minutes will the policeman catch the thief?
Question 8: Two water taps together can fill a tank in 6 hours. The tap of a larger diameter takes 9 hours less than the smaller one to fill the tank separately. Find the time in which each tap can separately fill the tank.
Question 9: In a flight of 600 km, an aircraft was slowed down due to bad weather. Its average speed was reduced by 200 km/hr and the time of flight increased by 30 minutes. Find the duration of the flight.
Question 10: The denominator of a fraction is one more than twice the numerator. If the sum of the fraction and its reciprocal is 2 16/21. Find the fraction.
Question 11: A motor boat whose speed is 24 km/hr in still water takes 1 hour more to go 32 km upstream than to return downstream to the same spot. Find the speed of the stream.
Question 12: If the roots of the quadratic equation (b - c)x2 + (c- a)x + (a - b) = 0 are equal, prove that 2b = a + c.
Question 13: If the mean of the given distribution is 65.6, then find the missing frequencies.

Question 14: The sum of the first 7 terms of an A.P. is 63 and the sum of its next 7 terms is 161. Find the 28th term of this A.P.
Question 15: The sum of the first ‘n’ terms of an A.P. is 5n~ + 3n. If the mth term is 168, find the value of m. Also, find the 20th term of the A.P.
Question 16: The sum of four consecutive numbers in A.P. is 32 and the ratio of the product of the first and last term to the product of two middle terms is 7: 15. Find the numbers.
Question 17: An AP consists of 37 terms. The sum of the three middlemost terms is 225 and the sum of the last three terms is 429. Find the AP.
Question 18: The ratio of the 11th term to the 18th term of an AP is 2 : 3. Find the ratio of the 5th term to the 21st term and also the ratio of the sum of the first five terms to the sum of the first 21 terms.
Question 19: Show that the sum of an AP, whose first term is a, the second term b and the last term c, is equal to (a+c) (b+c-2a) / 2(b-a).
Question 20: An aeroplane, flying 3000 m high, passes vertically above another plane at an instant when the angle of elevation of two aeroplanes from the same point on the ground are 60° and 45° respectively. Find the distance between the two planes. (Use √3 = 1.732)
Question 21: If the angle of elevations of a cloud from a point h meters above a lake is 30° an angle of depression of its reflection in the lake be 60°. Prove that the height of the cloud is 2h, also find the distance of the observer from the cloud.
Question 22: Prove that the lengths of tangents drawn from an e are equal.
Question 23: Two tangents TP and TQ are drawn to a circle with the centre O from an external point T. Prove that ZPTQ = 2∠OPQ.
Question 24: Three horses are tied at the vertices of a triangular park of sides 35 m, 84 m and 91 m with the help of a rope of length 14 m each. Calculate the ratio of the area which can be grazed to the area which can't be grazed.
Question 25: Two circles touch each other internally. The sum of their area is 116m sq.cm. and the distance between their centres is 6 cm. Find the radii of the circle.
Question 26: 3. In a circle of radius 12 cm, an arc subtends an angle of 120° at the centre. Find:
(i) The length of the arc
(ii) Area of the sector formed by the arc
(iii) Area of the segment formed by the corresponding chord.
(Use = 3.14 & √3 =1.73)
Question 27: A wooden article as shown in the Figure was made from a cylinder by scooping out a hemisphere from one end and a cone from the other end. Find the total surface area of the article.
Question 28: A tent is in the shape of a right circular cylinder up to a height of 3 m and conical above it. The total height of the tent is 13.5 m and the radius of the base is 14m. Find the cost of cloth required to make the tent at the rate of Rs 80 per square metre.
Question 29: A wooden toy rocket is in the shape of a cone mounted on a cylinder, as shown in the figure. The height of the entire rocket is 26cm, while the height of the conical part is 6cm. The base of the conical portion has a diameter of 5cm, while the base diameter of the cylindrical portion is 3cm. If the conical portion is to be painted orange and the cylindrical portion yellow, find the area of the rocket painted with each of these colours. (Take π=3.14)
