Lonavala School Holiday July 26 (Confirmed): School to remain closed due to heavy rainfall

Lonavala School Holiday July 26: Due to ongoing heavy rainfall in Maharashtra, Ashok Vasant Sabale, Chief Officer of the Lonavala Municipal Council, has declared a holiday for all schools in the district on Thursday and Friday. The Vasant Sabale also stated that all the students need to stay home while all the staff members will have to report to the respective schools. All the schools in Maharastra will remain closed until next notice. Many schools are expected to shift to online mode in the coming few days. The extreme rainfall makes it unsafe for the students to step out. It must be noted that in the last 24 hours, Lonavala has experienced 145 mm of rain, with the downpour persisting for the past one week. 

Parents are advised to stay updated and be in touch with the school authorities for further updates. People should go out only if there is an urgent need, as there is a yellow alert for very heavy rain from the weather department. Additionally, closures have been declared in many other districts within the Vidarbha region, including Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli. In Raigad district along the coast, schools in four tehsils have also been closed due to the severe weather.

Lonavala School Holiday July 26: Orange Alert and Red Alert in Some Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy rainfall in some of the districts in Maharastra. The weather department also said that all Maharashtra residents need to stay home with all the necessary things for the next two days to minimize risks and ensure public safety during the heavy rainfall. Check the list of districts, where the Red and Orange alert announced:

The following districts received the red alert from the weather department:

• Mumbai
• Pune
• Raigharh
• Raigad
• Thane
• Nasik
• Satara
• Palghar

Districts Under Orange Alert

Here are the following districts that received the red alert from the weather department:

• Chandrapur
• Ratnagiri
• Gadchiroli
• Kolhapur

The Lonavala School Holiday July 26, 2024, decision is meant to keep children safe during the predicted heavy downpour and to avoid any unintentional mishaps.
