UGC Guidelines 2023: The University Grants Commission officials have approved short-term skill courses for students who have just qualified for their Class 12 exams. However, the UGC Guidelines 2023 suggest constituting an advisory committee with the Vice Chancellor/Principal, CEOs, experts and other members.
The UGC chairman, Jagadesh Kumar, has confirmed that the short-term courses will carry at least 12 credits. In addition, the maximum credit score will be 30. Note that such courses might also be
Based on the UGC guidelines, courses such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, Internet of things, data science, virtual reality, 5g connectivity, cloud computing, industrial automation, cyber security and more have been approved based on the UGC guidelines 2023.
Note that along with the design, short-term course delivery and adoption, the centre will publish other details, such as Nomenclature, number of seats, course, admission criteria, list of selected students, certificates and fee structure.
As the UGC guidelines recommend, the centre is responsible for arranging courses based on skill development with their own finances. Moreover, they keep data regarding local job opportunities and skill requirements. Students must also look for the public comment UGC plans to draft this week to give their opinion.
It is important to remember that the courses will be conducted in a "self-sustainable mode" where the institutions can decide on a policy. The Universities will be in touch with different colleges to come up with placement opportunities, training, funding schemes and more according to the UGC guidelines 2023.
