Cyclone Ditwah has made landfall in the Bay of Bengal and is gradually shifting towards the northwest, bringing heavy to moderate rainfall in areas of Chennai, Puducherry, and Southern Andhra Pradesh. The district authorities declared a holiday to ensure the safety of students and staff amidst waterlogging conditions.
In most government schools, holidays were declared on December 2, and it is likely to continue on December 3. Besides rain, the Kotta Peralaya festival will also be observed in Kanyakumari District, which calls for a holiday in schools and colleges.
