As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Ranipet, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, and Chennai are under orange alert tomorrow, October 22, 2025. In Chennai, skies will remain mostly cloudy, with moderate to heavy rain and possible thunderstorms in several areas. Officials have suggested that citizens stay safe indoors, and the TN government will most likely declare a holiday for schools and colleges tomorrow, October 22, 2025. Likewise, IMD on Monday (October 20, 2025) said a low-pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours, which could bring light to moderate rain in parts of Odisha over the next three days.
