The National Medical Council has announced another attempt for the first professional examination for the MBBS Batch 2020-21. The mercy attempt has been granted to the students who could not pass their first professional exam due to the COVID 19 pandemic. The NMC has granted the 5th attempt in the professional MBBS examination as a one-time measure.

The announcement regarding the NMC's decision was made through a notice signed by Shambhu Sharan Kumar, Director of the Under Graduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB). While the notice announced the additional attempt being granted to the students, it also emphasized that it is a one-time measure and may not be treated as precedence in the future.

The decision by the NMC will benefit those MBBS Batch 2020-21 students from medical colleges across the country who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The students will be given the 5th and final attempt at the examination, in the effect of the notice from the commission. The students are advised to make an effort to pass the examination in this attempt as they will not get another chance.

In other news, the NMC recently answered a set of FAQs regarding the students who completed the MBBS degree from colleges in Russia and Ukraine. This notice was issued in continuation to the FAQs from Indian students who got their medical degrees from the Philippines and Russia.
