Maharashtra School Holiday 29 January Due to Deputy CM Ajit Pawar's death: Ajit Pawar, the 66-year-old Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), died in a plane crash on the morning of Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Pawar was travelling in a privately operated Bombardier Learjet 45XR (registration VT-SSK) from Mumbai to Baramati to attend election campaign meetings. The plane crash occurred near Baramati Airport in Pune district. All five people on board were killed, including Ajit Pawar, two associates (a security officer and an attendant), and the two pilots, Captain Sumit Kapur and Captain Shambhavi Pathak.
