Maharashtra School Holiday Due to Polls: With the scheduling of the Brihanmumbai Municipal (BMC) Corporation elections, all the corporate offices, government offices, banks, and public sector undertakings will remain closed on January 15, 2026. As per the notification, school and college holidays were not mentioned; however, for a smooth election process, the educational institution is likely to declare holidays. As notified by the Maharashtra State Election Commission, due to civic polls conducted across 29 municipal corporation areas that include Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Thane, Nashik, Solapur, Jalna, Kolhapur, etc. All govt, semi govt, PSUs, banks, and central govt offices that are located in the proximity of BMC limits will remain closed. The civic polls might interrupt with daily routine of the people, so schools, colleges, and offices are given a holiday. In some schools or colleges, voting will be conducted, so students might not be able to attend classes. All the essential services, such as hospitals, fire services, and ambulance services, will run as usual on normal days.
Students are requested to consult their respective school or college authorities regarding the holiday on January 15 due to the polls. There may be a possibility that a few schools might conduct online classes so as not to hamper the studies of those appearing for the board exams.
