IIT Delhi Improves Rank in QS Ranking 2026: The London-based global higher education analytics firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has published the QS World University Rankings 2026. In the latest publication of QS World University Ranking released this morning, around 54 Indian Universities have made it to the list.
Most notably, around 50% of the Indian University's rankings have improved as compared to last year; this includes the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. The IIT Delhi Improves Rank in QS Ranking 2026 by at least 30 places. In the recent edition, the IIT Delhi secured 123rd position in QS Ranking 2026 among 1500 higher education Institutions in the world. IIT Delhi is among the highest-ranking Indian Institutions in the QS Ranking 2026.
According to Jessica Turner, CEO of QS: "India is rewriting the global higher education map. No other country has seen more universities debut in this edition of the QS World University Rankings — a clear sign of a system evolving at speed and scale.”
IIT Delhi has climbed from 150 in 2025 to 123 in 2026 rankings. Looking at the past two years the IID Delhi has climbed 70 places, ranking at 123rd this year compared with 197th in 2024 and 150th in 2025. This has led to outstanding results in Academic Reputation (142nd Rank) Employer Reputation (50th Rank), Sustainability (172nd Rank), and Citations (86th Rank).
Not to mention, the University of Mumbai has bagged 664th Rank in global rankings. IIT Bombay continues to remain in the global 130 rankings, however, it slipped to 129th this year from its all-time best rank of 118 in 2025.
