CSAB Introduces Special Quota for Northeast Students in NIT: The Central Seat Allocation Board plans to extend support to Northeast students through special reservation of seats in JEE Main. In a press conference at Kohima, Prof. Anindya Basu and Pof Pankaj Kumar Sa along with other eminent members of the CSAB committee announced 2000 seat allocation to North-East students at India’s top NITs.
The eminent committee members of CSAB offered a vivid idea regarding how JEE Main can open doors to better career opportunities for NE students. JEE Main Session 2 2025 registration is underway and will close by February 24, 2025, at 9 pm. This initiative will encourage more participation from the North-East students who dream of seeking education from India’s top engineering colleges.

CSAB Introduces Special Quota for Northeast Students in NIT: Seat Matrix
CSAB’s special quota for Northeast students in NITs aims at offering equal opportunities to NE students who somehow face challenges when appearing for popular national entrances such as JEE. Around 24,000 seats are available at India’s 31 NITs and this special quota will reserve 2000 seats only for NE participants.
Additionally, 740 seats will be allocated in the North East University of Technology so that students can secure admission at regional institutes. Prof. K Umashankar Rao, Chairman at CSAB, gave a clear message to NE students to take advantage of the ongoing JEE Main session 2 2025 registrations.
CSAB Special Quota Benefits in JEE Main Counselling Process
As per the CSAB special quota system, the team will provide extensive counselling support to Northeast students. Explore some of the benefits below:
- CSAB-NEUT Round: Allocates seats at AICTE-approved institutions across Northeast states with limited technical education access.
- CSAB Special Round: It will offer a second chance to NE students who failed to secure a seat during the JoSAA counseling rounds.
