Tamil Nadu School Holiday 18 October 2024 Due to Rain (Live): Heavy rains have been pounding the South Indian States for the past few days due to the depression over the Bay of Bengal. The rain has stopped in most parts of Tamil Nadu; and the District Collectors have reopened schools in several districts on October 17, 2024. As per the latest updates Chennai District Collector has announced that all the schools will function as usual on October 18, 2024.

While Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Puducherry have been receiving heavy rainfall, Chennai and Bengaluru are among the worst-hit cities. The reports of aftermath, such as waterlogging, people wading through knee-deep waters, and disrupted bus and train services in the affected areas have thrown normal life out of gear. Also, the IMD (Indian Meteorological Department) has issued a yellow alert in all districts of Tamil Nadu for October 17, 2024, and October 18, 2024. North Tamil Nadu districts like Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, and Thiruvannamallai may experience thunderstorms and lightning. Considering the situation, the Tamil Nadu government may declare a holiday tomorrow in schools and colleges. However, students and parents need to check the live updates here for confirmed news.

Chennai School Holiday Tomorrow Due to Rain?

• Chennai has been among the worst-hit cities due to the cyclone-like situations caused by the depression over the Bay of Bengal crossing North Tamil Nadu.
• The upper air cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal has caused heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu districts, particularly Chennai. 
• The situation has caused severe waterlogging in the cities. There are visuals of streets covered in muddy water due to heavy rainfall.
• The government is working to clear the water stagnation. However, according to IMD, heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in the Chennai district.
• While the District Collectors of Chennai have confirmed that the schools will function as usual on time due to clear weather on 17th October 2024, the school holidays in Chennai on October 18, 2024, depending on the weather conditions.
• If the sky continues to be clear, there might be no school holidays. 

Will There Be A School Holiday In Tamil Nadu Due To Rain?

• Most of the Tamil Nadu districts are under yellow alert.
• As per IMD, Kancheepuram, Chegalpattu, Tiruvallur, Ranippeettai, Nagapattinam, Madurai, Coimbatore, Kanyakumari, and Pucherry will likely experience thunderstorms and lightning on October 18, 2024.
• However, according to recent updates, the District Collectors of Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chegalpattu, and Tiruvallur have confirmed that the schools will function as usual on time because of clear weather on October 17, 2024.
• If the weather continues to be clear, there will be no Tamil Nadu School Holiday on 18 October 2024 Due to Rain. Therefore, students and parents are advised to check for recent updates for school holidays in Tamil Nadu tomorrow.
