School Holiday Declared in Maharashtra in the light of the heavy rainfall that the state has received in the last 48 hours. Several districts under red and orange alert.
School Holiday Declared in Maharashtra: The Government of Maharashtra has declared a hoilday today, July 24, for all the schools in the state because of the heavy rain in the state. Students from across the state are advised to stay at home and take the necessary precautions in case the weather situation becomes even more harsh. They must also await further notification from the Government regarding the opening of the schools, as further holidays maybe declared depending on the weather predictions for the coming days. Schools in several districts were closed even yesterday. The Indian Metereological Department (IMD) has declared "Red Alert" in a few districts in the state.
Maharashtra's capital city and India's Financial Capital, Mumbai has recieved heavy rainfall in the last 48 hours resulting in severe waterlogging situation in the city. Many other major cities and suburbs have also recieved relentless rain and are facing issues caused by it.

In addition to this, as per the weather predications by the IMD, light to moderate rainfall is expected across all the state in the Maharashtra. However, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in the disticts that have been mentioned above. The districts that are closer to the Arabian sea are expected to recieve more rainfall that the other districts and the distrcit authorities have been put on high alert.
