Global crude oil prices rose today. Brent Crude was trading over 0.4 per cent up at 61 US dollars and 61 cents per barrel and WTI Crude was trading almost half a per cent up at 58 US dollars and 24 cents per barrel, when reports last came in.
In the forex market, the rupee today depreciated by nine paise to close at 89 rupees and 96 paise against the US dollar.
In Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, laid the foundation stone of the Bhoramdev Corridor Development Project at a programme held at Bhoramdev Dham in Kabirdham district yesterday.

The Election Commission has issued a directive stating that Other Backward Class (OBC) certificates issued by the West Bengal government after 2010 will not be treated as valid supporting identity documents during hearings on claims and objections to the draft electoral roll in connection with the SIR.
BJP today alleged that law and order have completely collapsed in West Bengal. The 11th India International Youth Sailing Championship 2026 will officially take place from 4th to 10th January at the Chennai Port. The Championship was launched in Chennai yesterday.

Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa has declared a new 60-day state of emergency in nine provinces and three municipalities. Centre has approved 22 new proposals under the third tranche of the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme, involving a projected investment of 41 thousand 863 crore rupees.
