National Education Day 2023 Being Celebrated Today, Remembering Maulana Abul Kalam Azad
The Ministry of Human Resource Development has marked Nov 11, 2023, as National Education Day since 2008 on the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
National Education Day 2023: The Ministry of Human Resource Development has marked Nov 11, 2023, as National Education Day since 2008 on the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, who was also our first Education Minister under the leadership of the Indian National Congress. National Education Day 2023 is being celebrated today all over India.
Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, also known as Abul Kalam Ghulam Muhiyuddin Ahmed bin Khairuddin Al-Hussaini Azad, was born on Nov 18, 1888. He also served as an education minister from Aug 15, 1947 to Feb 2, 1958.
Maulana Abul Kalam Azad played a key role in establishing prominent educational institutions such as the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the University Grants Commission (UGC). He also inaugurated the foundations of the Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Kharagpur.
He also established the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Sahitya Academy, Lalit Kala Academy, Sangeet Natak Academy, and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) under his guidance for National Education Day 2023.
He also took efforts towards initiatives such as the education of rural underprivileged communities and girls, promoting adult literacy, implementing free and compulsory education for all children up to the age of 14, and expanding secondary education and vocational training.

On National Education Day 2023, different schools and educational institutions conduct programs, seminars, workshops, and activities such as essay writing, speeches, poster making, and various other competitions.
