Medical Institutes in Uttar Pradesh to Use Hindi as a Medium of Instruction
As per the Government directives, Medical institutions in Uttar Pradesh will now start using Hindi as a medium of instruction.
UP Medical Colleges to Teach in Hindi: The Government of Uttar Pradesh has directed all the government and autonomous medical colleges to use Hindi as a medium of instruction. Additionally, all the principals and faculty members are to start teaching in Hindi and submit an update every month to the UP director general of medical education.
Director General of Medical Education (DGME) Kinjal Singh stated, "A government letter issued on October 31 has stated teaching in Hindi be started at colleges and universities under the medical education department".
This initiative will help students who have studied only in Hindi medium schools and colleges. As the medical vocabulary might seem complicated for such students to understand, instructions given in Hindi will be of great use.
Speaking about the initiative, NS Verma, Physiology Department Head at KGMU, stated, "many countries like Russia, China, and Japan teaches in their native languages and most of the medical books are almost available for students and few are under review".
However, medical professors are of the opinion that they have been teaching/giving instructions in Hindi as it helps them to explain better and make students understand the concepts easily. If all the medical subject books are available in Hindi, it would allow students to understand the concepts better.
Furthermore, King George's Medical University (KGMU), Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS), and all the Government Medical Colleges have welcomed this initiative by the Department of Medical Education. As the classes for Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry students are ongoing, all the Medical Colleges in UP will teach further in Hindi.
