Kerala School Holiday July 31 Updates: Several districts in the state of Kerala are expected to recieve heavy rainfall for the next 5 days. In light of the situation, the India Meteorological Department has declared red, orange and yellow alerts in all districts across the state. Few of the district authorities like Thrissur, Kasaragod, Pathanamthitta, Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Malappuram, Palakkad, Ernakulum, Idukki, and Alappuzha have announced holidays for educational institutions like schools and colleges, including professional colleges. Districts like Chikkmangulur, Ernakulam, Kasaragod, Pathanamthitta, holidays for schools has been announced. Students are advised to stay updated on the official announcements so that they can prepare accordingly. Once the official declaration is out, schools and colleges are expected to remain shut tomorrow and perhaps even day after, on August 1.

Furthermore, orange alerts for Kaliyar in Ernakulam, Keecheri in Thrissur, Pulamthodu in Palakkad, and Kutyadi in Kozhikode have declared by the Central water commission as the water levels are rising dangerously. Thodupuzha in Idukki, Gayathri in Thrissur, Chaliyar and Kuthirapuzha in Malappuram, Karamana river in Thiruvananthapuram and Pampa in Pathanamthitta are under yellow alerts.
As the heavy monsoon rains wreck havoc in the state, people residing in the state are advised to stay on high alert and follow the instructions from the authorities in a timely manner. A landslide that occured in Wayanad in the early hours of Tuesday has claimed the lives of over 100 people and more are expected to have been effected.
