The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next few days as a result of multiple weather systems impacting the region. - Kozhikode: The district is under an orange alert, with very heavy rainfall forecasted and reports of waterlogging and minor landslides.
- Wayanad: Severe flooding, including the inundation of the Muthanga National Highway (NH 766), has resulted in traffic disruptions and emergency rescue operations.
- Kannur: The Malabar region has been experiencing continous rain, causing uprooted trees and local flooding.
- Kasaragod: Heavy rains and potential flooding risks have chances for the authorities to declare a school holiday.
- Idukki: The hill district is at risk of landslides due to ongoing rainfall.
In Wayanad, over 400 people were stranded due to the flooding of the Muthanga National Highway, and over 2,300 residents have been shifted to relief camps. IMD has issued an orange alert for four districts, indicating very heavy rainfall (6 cm to 20 cm), and a yellow alert for several others. The continuous rains have partially damaged homes and destroyed crops over 125 hectares of land in hill districts like Wayanad.
