JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Exam LIVE Updates: Reporting Time, Dress Code, Instructions

JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Exam: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to conduct the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Exam from January 21, 2026. Appearing candidates can download their JEE Main 2026 Admit Card for session 1 from the official website: jeemain.nta.nic.in. The authorities have released the session 1 admit card for January 21, 22, 23, and 24, 2026 exams. Students who will be taking the exam must ensure they carry their hall ticket and photo ID proof to the examination centre. 

The JEE Main 2026 exams will be conducted in two shifts: Shift 1 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and shift 2 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM in different cities throughout the country, and 15 cities outside India. Aspirants must reach the examination centre according to the reporting time, which is at least 90 minutes before the exam starts, to complete the verification process without any hassle. 

The NTA has clear guidelines regarding the JEE Main 2026 Dress code for male and female candidates to maintain safety, transparency, and fairness during the exam. Aspirants must follow the dress code and exam day instructions to avoid last-minute stress.

NTA, the conducting authority, has specific guidelines for students appearing for the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Exam. While there are no strict rules, candidates must follow certain general requirements, such as clothing, footwear, accessories, reporting time and items that are not permissible inside the exam centre, to ensure that the examination process runs smoothly.

Students appearing for the JEE Main 2026 session 1 Exam can check the dress code for males and females:

Dress Code For Male Candidates

• Avoid wearing clothes with large buttons.
• Candidates must not wear any clothes with metallic items, such as belts. 
• Candidates are not allowed to cover their heads. Therefore, students should avoid wearing caps and mufflers. 
• Those wondering “Is Jeans Allowed in JEE Mains 2026?”, the answer is yes. However, candidates must wear comfortable jeans to avoid frisking.
• Any kind of jewellery or ornaments is not allowed. Candidates must not wear rings, bracelets, goggles, or any such items. 
• Footwear with thick soles is also prohibited. 

Dress Code For Female Candidates

• Female candidates should not wear any kind of stole/dupatta.
• Any kind of jewellery or ornaments is not allowed. Female candidates are instructed not wear earrings, rings, nose pins, lockets, chains, anklets, toe rings, etc. 
• Candidates must not wear clothes with large buttons or those that have metallic items.  
• Female candidates should wear light and comfortable clothes. Female candidates can wear jeans as well. 
• Students must avoid wearing footwear with thick soles and heels. It is better to opt for slippers, floaters, or lightweight sandals.  

JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Exam Instructions

Students are advised to visit their examination centre one day before the exam to know well about the route, preparation time, and travel time to avoid any inconvenience. The candidates must carry their JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Admit Card along with other required documents, such as a self-declaration form, passport-sized photograph, PwD certificate (if applicable), and a valid photo ID proof. A candidate who does not possess their JEE Main 2026 Hall Ticket will not be allowed to enter the examination centre.
