IIT Madras Updates Admission Criteria for OCI And PIO Applicants Before JEE Advanced 2024
Candidates with OCI And PIO cards can now apply for all the IITs as Indian nationals as per the new IIT Madras JEE Advanced 2024 Admission Criteria.
IIT Madras JEE Advanced 2024 Admission Criteria: JEE Advanced 2024 aspirants with OCI and PIO cards will now be treated as Indian notionals appying for admissions at IITs. This new update is applicable only for admissions at IITs across the country.
Candidates who have received therir OCI/PIO card before Mar 4, 2021, are eligible to apply for the IIT admissions 2024. Candidates can check the eligibility criteria for OCI and PIO candidates at the official websites of the respective IITs.
The IIT Madras JEE Advanced 2024 admission criteria has been released after the verdict passed by the Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition (Civil) 891/2021. Furthermore, IIT Madras will commence the JEE Advanced 2024 registration process from Apr 21, 2024 to Apr 30. The JEE Advanced 2024 examination will be held on May 26, 2024.

IIT Madras JEE Advanced 2024 Admission Criteria
Candidates applying for the JEE Advanced 2024 examination must check the following eligiblity criteria.
- Age: Candidates should be born on or after October 1, 1999, (25 years old or less) can apply for JEE Advanced 2024. The candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ PwD categories will have a relaxation of 5 years (born on or after October 1, 1994).
- Nationality: Both Indian and international students are eligible to apply for JEE Advanced entrance exam. But unlike Indian students, foreign aspirants can directly apply to IIT JEE Advanced 2024. Likewise, as per the IIT Madras JEE Advanced 2024 Admission Criteria, candidates with OCI and PIO cards can also apply for IITs.
- Number of Attempts: Candidates can attempt IIT JEE Advanced 2024 only twice.
- Appearance in Class 12th (or Equivalent) Exam: The candidate must have appeared for the Class 12th (or equivalent) exam for the first time in 2022 or 2024. For IIT JEE Advanced 2024, class 12 board exam marks are not criteria because many board examinations were cancelled. Thus, candidates will be considered for IIT JEE Advanced irrespective of their Class 12 marks.
- Are OCI holders eligible for IIT admission? Yes, as per the IIT Madras JEE Advanced 2024 Admission Criteria, OCI holders can apply for IIT JEE Advanced 2024.
- Previous Admissions at IITs: Candidates who have rejected the seat earlier are not eligible to apply for IIT JEE Advanced 2024. Also, candidates who have paid the seat acceptance fee but haven't joined previously are eligible.
