While not officially called "grace marks," the Board’s Committee reviews the paper after it is conducted. If they agree that Question 8 was ambiguous, they may instruct examiners to give marks for both options or award marks to everyone who attempted it.
To be declared "Pass" in Hindi, a student must secure a minimum of 33%. Since the total evaluation is out of 100 marks (80 theory + 20 internal assessment), students need a combined score of at least 33 marks.
If the CISCE (Council) determines that a question is ambiguous or that multiple options are technically valid, they traditionally follow one of two paths during the marking process:
- The board instructs examiners to award full marks for either Option A or Option C.
- Benefit of Doubt (Grace Marks).

Question 8 of the MCQ section has sparked debate among students due to its confusing nature.
Question : परिवर्तन प्रकृति का वह नियम है जिसे टाला नहीं जा सकता।"
(रेखांकित वाक्यांश हेतु एक शब्द)
Students can be seen confused between option A and C. According to subject experts both options are correct.
- अनिवार्य: जिसे करना या होना आवश्यक हो।
- अटल: जो अपनी जगह से न हिले या जिसे बदला न जा सके।
However, option C is more acceptable according to the question.
Rohan Sinha felt that the paper was a bit lengthy. She said, “Writing in Hindi takes more time than English for me, so I missed one sub-question in the letter writing, but overall, it was a fair paper and expect to score 70/80.”
