Colleges Across India Unite to Come Up With Solutions to Tackle Delhi NCR Air Pollution Problem
Colleges across India are coming up with solutions to solve the Delhi NCR Air Pollution Problem which has gotten severe since the onset on winter.
Delhi NCR Air Pollution Problem: As the national capital of Delhi and the surrounding NCR region is choking as a result of the severe air pollution, colleges and their students from across India are coming up with solutions to solve the crisis. Among the colleges and their solutions, two that stand out are the Hindu College's Development of the Disinfection Machine and the cloud seeding technique being developed by IIT Kanpur. The technologies to tackle the Delhi NCR Air Pollution Problem are promising but are not enough to solve the problem completely.
Hindu College's Hybrid Air Disinfection Machine
With the AQI index in Delhi surpassing all previous records, to even cross 500, the startup cell at the Hindu College has devised the hybrid air disinfection machine. This device is not only capable of taking care of both air pollution but also air contaminants such as viruses and bacteria, among other infectious agents. The credit for the invention goes to physicist Lalit Kumar, along with the team of students who assisted him.
The team has stated that the device showed a 99 per cent efficiency in tackling indoor air viruses, bacteria, and fungus in a test that was conducted by the Shriram Institute for Industrial Research in Delhi. A true innovation under the Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign, the device will be a one-stop solution for air pollution and airborne pathogens, said the college principal.
IIT Kanpur's Innovative Cloud Seeding Technique
IIT Kanpur, one of India's premier innovation institutes, has been active for years in the research concerning pollution, its adverse effects and the ways to tackle it. In a moment of great pride for the institute, they introduced the IIT Kanpur Artificial Rain Solution, which was designed to create weather changes that encourage cloud condensation. The team is now awaiting approvals from the concerned authorities to test their invention at scale.
Some of the researchers believe that the invention could be a quick fix to the problem of air pollution. However, the researchers also stated that while the device could improve air quality temporarily, it cannot be considered a long-term solution.
The conditions in the national capital are so dire that Schools Have Gone Online to Prevent Students From Respiratory Diseases in Delhi. The government and our scientists must come up with a solution quickly so that the problem can be solved as soon as possible.
