The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB), the conduit of the various state-level entrance examinations, has announced the cancellation of the WB JECA and JELET entrance examinations for the current academic year. The Joint Examination for Masters in Computer Applications (JECA) and Joint Entrance for Lateral Entry in B.Tech (JELET) has been put off owing to the spike in the COVID-19 cases in West Bengal. The board has thus proposed alternative selection criteria which would be employed to grant admission to aspiring candidates.
New Selection Criteria for WB JECA and JELET 2020
For the Joint Examination for Masters in Computer Applications or JECA 2020, the candidates will be selected based on the performance of the last qualifying examination. The examinations taken into consideration are as follows:
- Bachelors in Engineering (B.E.)
- Bachelors in Technology (B.Tech)
- Bachelors in Science (B.Sc)
- Bachelors in Commerce (B.Com)
- Bachelors in Arts (B.A)
- Or any other equivalent degree exams
Similarly, for the entrance examination of Joint Entrance for Lateral Entry in B.Tech or JELET 2020, the following degree examination shall be considered:
- Diploma, or
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc)
Candidates who have already registered for JECA and JELET for the current academic year, will have to participate in an online centralized counselling. No additional counselling fee or processing fee is required to be paid by the candidates for the counselling.
