Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the official notification for Combined Defence Services Examination (I) 2020 exam on its official website.
The application process began on 30 October 2019 the last date to apply for UPSC CDS Online is 19 November 2019 by 6 pm IST. All interested candidates are hereby advised to complete the process at the earliest. The UPSC CDS 1 Exam will be held on 02 February 2020 (Sunday). The examination will be conducted for a total of 418 posts including those for SSC women candidates.
The exam conducting has provided the candidates with the facility of withdrawing the application forms. The window to do the same is 26 November to 03 December 2019 by 6 pm IST.
The current vacancies are available at Indian Military Academy (IMA Dehradun), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Air Force Academy (AFA Hyderabad) and the Officers Training Academy (OTA Madras) respectively. UPSC CDS Exam Application Process
Candidates can apply for UPSC CDS 1 Exam by visiting the official UPSC website upsc.gov.in. The examination fee has been set as 200 INR. However, for Female/SC/ST candidates there is no fee to be paid. The steps to apply for UPSC CDS 1 exam are as follows
- Visit the official UPSC, exam website upsc.gov.in
- On the homepage, find and click on the UPSC CDS 2019 link
- In the first part of the process, submit the requested personal information.
- Follow up by completing the payment, filling up exam related information and upload required documents, photo and signature
- Submit the application and take a print out for further reference/use

UPSC CDS 2019 Exam Pattern
The UPSC CDS Written exam consists of three papers except for the candidates opting for Officers Training Academy. Each paper consists of 100 Multiple choice questions(MCQs).
Each question carries one mark and for every wrong answer will lead to deduction of 1/3 marks from the total. No marks will be deducted for leaving a question blank. The paper of General Knowledge and Mathematics is bilingual. The papers will be Hindi and English. Moreover, calculators are not allowed in the exam center.
UPSC CDS Selection Process
The candidates firstly have to give the written examination. After qualifying it, they’ll be called for SSB interview which is a 5-day process in which there will be different tests that will test the Officer Like Qualities (OLQs) in the candidate. If the candidate clears the SSB Interview, he/she’ll be sent for medical assessment tests. After those tests are done, a merit list will be prepared.
If the candidate’s name is there in the merit list, he/she will receive a call letter to join the respective academy for which the candidate has given highest priority.
