The Tripura government has made an announcement stating that the exams for classes 10 and 12 will be conducted as per the schedule. However, the government has decided to close all the educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities in the state. The decision will be effective from 17 April 2021. The decision has been taken considering the increasing COVID-19 cases and subsequent restrictions and curfews in place.
Ratan Lal Nath, the Tripura Education Minister, stated, “Due to surges in COVID-19 cases, it has been decided that from 17-04-2021 all the classes for schools, colleges and universities which are under the state government (Including private Institutions) would remain closed until further order. Only the pre-scheduled exams will be held.”
The Tripura government had earlier closed the schools for classes 1 and 2, but with the sudden spike in COVID-19 cases, the decision to close all educational institutions was taken. Soon, the government will release notice for all the parents, teachers, and students with a further course of action.
