TN Supplementary Examination for Final Year Engineering Students to Begin from 17 November 2020

The state of Tamil Nadu has recently released an official notification for the final year engineering students of the various government, state-aided and private universities and colleges. The state, after thorough consultation with the State Disaster Management Authority, has released an official notification regarding the conduction of the supplementary or backlog examination for the various final year engineering students. The examination will commence from 17 November 2020 and will continue till 21 November 2020.

Who is Allowed to Write the Supplementary Examination?

The official notification states that the final year undergraduate students of engineering program from various state universities and colleges who couldn’t appear for the final year examination due to technical glitches like poor internet connectivity, disruption of power supply etc. are allowed to sit for the examination.

Along with such candidates, the candidates who were absent for the examination owing to various unavoidable circumstances can also write the examination. Such candidates must consult their respective institutions regarding the schedule and timetable of the examination.

Paper Pattern will Remain the Same.

Candidates must note that the pattern of the examination is set to remain the same. The examination will be conducted in a home-proctored manner with a duration of one hour. Candidates will have to attempt 30 questions out of a total of 40 questions. The online tests will carry only 30% weightage while 50% weightage will be given to pre-final semester exams, and 20% weightage is given to internal exams conducted by the respective institution.

Following the recent guidelines laid by the University Grants Commission (UGC) directing all universities and colleges to begin the new academic session from  November 2020, it is hence mandatory for them to announce the semester-end examination result as soon as possible. Many varsities have already completed and are conducting the backlog examination, including the SPPU, popularly known as Pune University, Mumbai University etc. Candidates are thus advised to keep visiting the official website so that they do not miss out on the latest updates.
