Principals of Tamil Nadu schools have asked to bring down student strength in exam halls by 50% during the TN Class XII board exams to ensure social distancing among the students. This was asked in light of rising COVID-19 cases in the state.
The class 12th Tamil Nadu board exams will be conducted from 5 May 2021 to 31 May 2021. However, the authorities have postponed the language exam from 3 May 2021 to 31 May 2021. There are around 3000 exam centres this year for the class 12th board exams and a total of 4000 senior secondary schools in the state.
N Vijayan, senior principal of Zion Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Tambaram that exams schools be conducted in the respective schools. He said: “To maintain social distancing, each higher secondary school should be awarded exam centres. The student strength of the exam hall should be reduced from 20 per exam hall to 10. They can increase the number of exam halls and invigilators.”
Hence, principals have asked to reduce the number of students to half in the exam centres to maintain social distancing in Tamil Nadu board exams which will begin on 5 May 2021 and conclude by 31 May 2021.
