According to the latest updates, Tamil Nadu State Education Minister K A Sengottaiyan has announced that the board exams for classes 10 and 12 will indeed take place in 2021. The news came out due to the escalating rumours of a “zero academic year” due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr Sengottaiyan, while taking to the media personnel, confirmed that the board exams for the current academic year of classes 10 and 12 would commence for sure.
Clarification of Rumours and Speculations
Recently, some rumours and misleading news circulated on social media about the government declaring a zero academic year. The term Zero Academic Year means a year with no educational activities conducted. As in the current academic year, the schools remain closed since March, which led to the rumours that the government would declare the current academic year to be a zero academic year.
Board Exam Dates to Be Announced Soon
After confirming the TN HSC and SSLC board exams, the State Education Minister Mr Sengottaiyan mentioned that the education department would soon announce the board exam dates. The education minister also stated that the government would open the closed schools after taking all precautionary measures and exploring the circumstances.
