In Patiala, Punjabi University has decided to put a halt on the ongoing semester examination due to the scheduled “Punjab Bandh” today, i.e., 25 September 2020. The Punjabi University Controller of Examinations, Professor Jis Khattar, in an official notification stated that the decision was taken to ensure safety and to avoid inconvenience for the students and staff commuting to the college on the day of the strike.

Khattar added that the exams were postponed as the students, teachers of various colleges, and the representatives of Private Colleges Associations have urged that the students and staff who will be appearing for the exams will find it challenging to conduct the exams.

New Timetable for Punjab University Exams Will be Released Soon

The official notification also stated that the exams would resume on 14 October 2020. Students will be duly informed of the development and will be provided with the new timetable shortly. In the meantime, students must keep visiting the official website for the latest announcements on admission for the current academic session.

Clash of Dates With UPSC IAS and UGC NET Exams

Students have shown concern that their semester examination dates are clashing with mainstream entrance examinations such as UPSC Civil Services Examination and UGC NET 2020. Many final year students have applied for such examinations, and they are in a fix for having to choose between the two.

Keeping in mind such concerns, the Punjabi University officials have decided to revise the examination dates to allow students to appear for both the examinations. The authorities have decided to set the timings of the examination so that it would not clash with the entrance examination’s timings. Hence, students must keep visiting the official website for further notice.
