Postponment of ICSE, ISC Board Exams Due To Coronavirus Scare


CISCE (Council for ICSE and ISC) has postponed all exams between March 19 and 31 due to the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 scare prevalent all over the country. The council said the revised datesheets will be announced later once the threat subsides.

In the official notification released on March 19, 2020 Gerry Arathoon, Chief Executive and Secretary of CISCE has stated that due to corona virus scaring the entire country, the Council for ICSE and ISC which is interested in the health and overall well being of its student and teaching community has decided to postpone all exams scheduled between March 19, 2020 to March 30, 2020. He also said that the revised dates will be announced in due course of time.

According to the report by the Health Minisrty, the number of people infected with the deadly virus has soared to 161 in the country. This count includes three who have died. The Government has taken several measures like closing of malls, shopping complexes and areas where people gather in large numbers.

CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) has already cancelled all exams which were to be held between March 19, 2020 to March 31, 2020. Many other institutions follow suit.


The Council was recognised as a Society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 in December 1967. It was listed in the Delhi School Education Act 1973, as a regualting body for conducting public examinations. Three exams are conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations. They are, the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE – Class 10), Indian School Certificate (ISC – Class 12) and Certificate in Vocational Education (CVE – Year 12).
