The Delhi University has said that the upcoming entrance test will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), who have given their nod to the proposal. The rules for the exam will soon be announced after the upcoming academic council (AC) meeting in accordance with the varsity rules.
There has been a lot of speculation around the admission process this year. In all likelihood, the university will be conducting an entrance test for undergraduate, postgraduate, M.Phil and Ph.D. programs respectively. This will cover all the different colleges affiliated with the prestigious university.
Reiterating the same, officials from the NTA have stated that DU will soon be providing them with the terms and conditions to be followed for the test and other necessary details and information. Elaborating further, the Delhi University admissions chairperson, Rajeev Gupta has stated that “There is a proposal to ask NTA to conduct the DU entrance exams. The pattern and syllabus for the exam are also to remain the same.”
The National Testing Agency has under it the conducting authority of the country’s top and most prominent entrance examinations such as NEET, JEE, UGC NET and so on. DU in all probability will be the second central university after JNU that will be conducting an online test for the current 2019-20 academic year. The university had tried twice previously as well to implement a standardized entrance exam.
The university currently has been conducting an entrance test for a few of its undergraduate programs and all of the postgraduate programs. For the remaining courses, the admissions are based on the merit list of candidates based on their class 12 scores.
The officials hope to commence the admission process earlier this year. The university at the same time is striving to make the entire admission process as student-friendly as possible.
