
There is an official confirmation by the NTA regarding the syllabus for JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020, which puts all rumours to rest. NTA has clarified that there is no change, modification or reduction in the syllabus for JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020. Earlier it was speculated that the curriculum load will be reduced considering the hardships faced by the students due to COVID-19 pandemic. In an interview with NDTV, an official from the National Testing Agency (NTA) said that the syllabus for JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 would remain the same as was announced earlier. The official warned the students not to believe in rumours and that the syllabus for JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 remains the same.
Around nine lakh students have registered for JEE Main, the entrance exam for all engineering colleges, and more than 15 lakh students across the country have registered for NEET this year.
Regarding NEET 2020
Earlier, NTA had clarified that it does not decide on the NEET syllabus and that it only provides a link to the syllabus. The link is provided in the Information Bulletin- www.mciindia.org
NEET 2020 will be an OMR-based exam and will contain three sections – Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Biology will have two sub-sections namely, Botany and Zoology. There will be 45 questions in Physics and Chemistry, and 90 questions in Biology (45 questions each from Botany and Zoology). Each correct answer will fetch 4 marks and 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
The examination will be held in 11 languages including English and Hindi. Test booklets will be provided in English for those candidates who opted for English as their medium of exam. Candidates who have opted for any other language will be provided bilingual test booklet. In case of any doubt in translation of a question, its English version will be treated as final.
Regarding JEE Main 2020
The JEE Main is an online written examination. Each correct answer will be awarded 4 marks and there will be a deduction of 1 mark for every wrong attempt. The examination will be held in two shifts, in a day.
