The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET 2021) is given by those who seek admission in undergraduate courses in medicine. The exam is conducted every year at the national level. However, for 2021, the exam date announcement is postponed due to the discussions between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The discussion is to decide on the proposal to conduct the exam twice a year. Hence, students appearing for the exam are busy with their NEET 2021 Preparation.
The NEET registrations will begin once the concerned ministries, NMC, and the NTA have arrived at a final decision regarding the proposal to conduct the exam twice a year. Due to changes in certain events, it is expected that the exam will be held from May 2021 to July 2021. However, the official notification has not come yet regarding the exam dates, so students should carry on their preparations without delay.
As per the official notice, there is no reduction in the syllabus for the exam. However, certain changes in the exam pattern this year are similar to the JEE Main exam. Students must not miss out on any topic from the subjects of physics, chemistry, and biology. Hence, by analyzing last year’s question papers, the chapters and topics carrying the highest marks are mentioned here.
In Biology, the topics of Plant Physiology, Geneticin, and Ecology carry the highest marks in the previous year question papers. Students should not ignore these chapters as they are the most important topics with the highest weightage in the biology section. Other chapters that carry high marks are the Structural Organization of Plants, Cell and Cell Cycle, and Diversity of Life. Students should solve NEET sample papers after complete the entire syllabus.
On analyzing the Physics section of the previous year’s questions, three chapters – Mechanics, Modern Physics and Electricity carry the highest weightage. These three chapters should be studied in deep to make the concepts more clear. Among these three chapters, Mechanics carry the highest weightage in the NEET paper up to 42% of the total marks.
In Chemistry, the Organic Chemistry of classes 11 and 12 carry the highest marks weightage in the paper. Questions from Organic Chemistry have carried marks weightage up to 27% in previous year’s NEET papers. Likewise, the chapters of Physical Chemistry of class 11 and 12 also carried a high weightage of up to 24% of total marks.
The mentioned topics are based on the previous year’s question paper analysis. But, students should not miss out on the leftover topics from any subject. In case of less time for preparation, the topics mentioned above should be given more priority while doing NEET 2021 preparation.
