As per the latest reports, a new circular has been issued by the University of Mumbai for the first-year exams. The notification states that the Mumbai University first-year exams for M.Com, MA, and M.Sc courses will conclude by 30 March 2021. In order to check the official circular issued by the University, students must visit the official website. Earlier, the University of Mumbai had released a circular citing the completion of exams by 10 March 2021, and the results for this were expected by 15 March 2021.
Colleges affiliated with the university began regular lectures for first-year postgraduate batches by mid-January 2021. The delay in commencement of regular classes for the students is due to the admission process, which ends by December 2020, while the PG courses got delayed due to the lockdown and confusion over reservation quotas.
Colleges of the university took a stand on the previous circular issued stating that conducting the exams within six weeks would be unfair. According to the University Act, Colleges need to complete 90 teaching days before scheduling the examinations.
At present, the colleges have barely completed 40 days of academic sessions, so it is not feasible to conduct Mumbai University Exams 2021 before 10 March 2021. University officials have stated that the Mumbai University Exams 2021 is being postponed to 30 March 2021. The decision has been taken considering the inability of colleges to conduct exams at such short notice.
University officials have also stated that students from different courses have barely completed 40 percent of the practical classes. Considering the present scenario, the decision to postpone Mumbai University Exam 2021 was taken. Exams for M.Com, MA, and M.Sc Courses are expected to be conducted in both online and offline mode.
