Mumbai University has extended the deadline for conducting end semester examinations for final year students. The university has permitted for the exams to be conducted until 9 January 2021 for all the courses. According to an earlier notification released, the deadline for the completion of the examinations was 31 December 2020.
A large number of teachers along with their college principals had complained that the mandatory 90 days of teaching was not met since the academic session had commenced late due to the pandemic and lockdown. Regarding this, the degree college teachers have also suggested that the first year exams should be postponed to the end of January 2021.
Changes in the Exam Pattern
Mumbai University may also change the exam pattern and add more questions in the MCQ format. The exams will be conducted in an online mode and will also include mandatory digital supervision. Supervision is to be carried out to deal with the cases of malpractices with strictness.
The university has also planned to appoint vigilance squads to oversee the conduct of the examinations. According to university officials, vigilance squads will be asked to visit the colleges and seek photos or video footage of students appearing for the online examination. The university has also decided to skip the revaluation process since exams will be conducted in the MCQ format. The university also plans to change the exam pattern of the professional courses including Engineering and Law. However, regarding this, there is no confirmation available.
