According to the official reports, Mumbai University has extended the last date for submitting the application forms for the final year examinations. As per the released schedule, the last date for submitting the application form is 20 September 2020. The Higher and Technical Education Minister of Maharashtra, Uday Samant has confirmed the news regarding the extension of the application date.
Exams from 25 September 2020
The final year exams for Mumbai University is scheduled to commence from 25 September 2020. The date extension was confirmed by the Maharashtra minister while speaking to the media, where he also talked about the number of students enrolled. If numbers are to be believed, around 2,47,500 students are expected to appear for the final year examinations. He also added that the University, this year, has the highest number of students enrolled. Out of the total number of students who have applied for the exams, 1,70,000 students are regular while the rest are those who will be appearing for clearing the backlogs.
Certificates to not Mention COVID-19
The education minister refuted the claims that the certificates provided to the students who pass this year will contain a mentioning of COVID-19. He clarified that the certificates would have no such mention of COVID-19 or a special COVID-19 certificate will be provided, as feared by students. Earlier, the certificates issued by the Agriculture University in the state had mentioned COVID-19 in their certificates. The move was highly criticized by the students and the experts, all around.
Mumbai University Final Semester Examinations
The practical exam for Mumbai University has already started. From 25 September 2020, the final year exams will also commence. The examinations will be conducted in an online mode considering the pandemic and lockdowns in places. All the students who do not have the means to appear for the online exams have the option to appear for the examinations physically. A specific SOP and guidelines have been issued by the University and state government for the same.
