Madras University UG Final Year Exams Likely to be held between 21 and 30 September 2020

Madras University has officially announced the dates for conducting UG final semester exams 2020. According to the announcement, the final year exams for the undergraduate students of Madras University is likely to be held from 21 September 2020 to 30 September 2020. The dates have been confirmed in a detailed circular released by the University. The University has asked its affiliated colleges to start the precursory preparations under the COVID-19 guidelines.

Examination Mode: Offline/Pen and Paper

According to the details provided in the circular, the final semester exams are scheduled to be conducted offline. The University will make sure that the preparations are in place. Keeping in mind the COVID-19 situation, the University will also conduct the exam in online mode. The circular, released by the University of Madras, states that the final year exams will be held in an offline mode or pen-and-paper mode for students residing in the state. While for the students who are currently outside Tamil Nadu would be given the option to appear for exams in an online mode. The notification also adds that the online mode of examination is only for students who are under quarantine or in a containment zone. The University of Madras will release a detailed examination notification with the details about format, mode and time on 9 September 2020.

Online Exam Option for Students in Containment Zones

As per the official notification, the students who are under quarantine or in a containment zone will get the option to appear for the Madras University final year exam 2020 in an online mode. This is applicable for the students who reside in Tamil Nadu and are under quarantine or in a containment zone. To avail any of these options of appearing for the semester-end exams in an online mode, candidates must submit a formal written request to the university administration along with necessary proof by 16 September 2020.

The duration of the exam will be 90 minutes. The question paper will be the same for both offline and online mode of examination. The departments will decide when to conduct the practical exams. The results will be declared on 14 October 2020 and will be available online from 16 October 2020 onwards. This development comes after UGC mandated that examinations are a requirement for the final year students.
