IIT JAM 2020 Registration to Begin from September 5, 2019


The IIT JAM 2020 Exam Registration is all set to begin from September 5, 2019. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur is going to conduct the IIT Joint Admission Test for M.Sc programs.  

The Joint Admission Test (IIT JAM) is conducted for M.Sc and other doctorate programs offered by the IITs and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) respectively. IIT JAM score can also be used for admission to some centrally-funded institutions such as NITs, IIEST Shibpur, SLIET Punjab and IISERs to name a few. The below mentioned dates have been released on the official website and the candidates are requested to make a note of the same.

The Registration process will commence from September 5 and conclude on October 8, 2019. The exam will be conducted on February 9, 2020 (Sunday). The results will be announced on March 20, 2020. In order to proceed further, the candidates first need to register online through the website jam.iitkgp.ac.in

There are certain procedures required to be followed on the website as listed below. The candidates must fill in their personal details (which consist of candidate’s name, email id, password and valid mobile number) as requested in the registration form. After the candidate registers successfully, he or she will be provided with an enrolment ID and password to continue the final phase of the application process.

The IIT JAM entrance exam will be conducted in two sessions. The first session will be held from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm for the subjects including Biological Sciences, Physics, and Mathematics. The second session will be held from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm for Biotechnology, Chemistry, Geology and Mathematical Statistics (MS). IIT JAM will be held in the objective type with questions in the form of multiple choice questions (MCQ), numerical answer type (NAT) questions and multiple selection questions (MSQ) respectively.

The entrance exam is must for the candidates and on qualifying the exam, the candidates will have to choose the course and college of their choice during the counselling process. The Joint Admission Test, popularly known as the IIT JAM is conducted on a rotational basis by Indian Institute of Technologies and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore under the purview of the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD).

The candidates should also note that they need to pay a fee of Rs. 1500 for one paper and Rs. 2100 for both the papers. However, the women candidates and the candidates from reserved category have to pay Rs. 750 and Rs. 1050 respectively as fee.
