IIT JAM 2020 Application Correction Process Begins


Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur has begun the IIT JAM 2020 exam application correction window on its official website.

The last date to make corrections in the application form is October 28, 2019. The admit card for the JAM 2020 examination will be out on January 7, 2020, and the examination will be held on February 9, 2020.

All the fields and sections have been opened up by the conducting authority and are subject to making changes. Although, a few fields which require the payment of an additional fee of 500 INR to make corrections. This shall be intimated while completing and submitting the form.

IIT JAM 2020 Application Correction Process 

The steps to be followed to make changes in IIT JAM 2020 application form are as follows

  • Open the official IIT JAM 2020 website jam.iitk.ac.in
  • Click on the JOAPS portal link given on the homepage
  • Enter login credential (enrolment ID/email ID and password)
  • Make the necessary changes and submit the application form
  • Pay the fee (if applicable) and save the acknowledgment copy

Joint Admission Test which is popularly known as the IIT JAM is a National level admission test. It is conducted on a rotational basis by any of the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Bangalore once every year on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) for individuals to get admission to any of the IITs across India. Applicants can get admission for Master of Science programs (M.Sc), joint Ph.D. dual degree programs and other postgraduate programs. Foreigners can also be allowed to register for this exam only when he or she is deemed eligible based on certain conditions.

IIT JAM 2020 Examination Details

IIT JAM is a Computer Based Test (CBT) conducted online by the in-charge or conducting authority of the Institute throughout various certified centers across the country. Calculators, electronic pagers and other mathematical gadgets are restricted for the exam.

The examination pattern consists of 3 sections (Section A, B, and C) consisting of 60 questions together with total marks of 100.  Section A is made up of 30 questions with negative marking whiles Section B and C both do not have negative markings and have 10 and 20 questions respectively. The Exam is written in two different sessions for different subjects: From 9.30 am to 12.30 pm for the first session and from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm for the second session.

IIT JAM 2020 questions will be in three formats – Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) and the Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions respectively. For one mark questions, a total of one mark would be given for every right answer whereas one-third marks (1/3) would be deducted for a wrong answer, and +2 marks would be given to a two marks question whereas two-thirds (2/3) marks would be deducted for a wrong answer.

Therefore, candidates are requested to be sure when answering the questions. There won’t be any deductions for a ‘no answer’ (a particular question which was not tackled by the candidate). Candidates are expected to finish the exams within 3 hours duration.

IIT JAM 2020 will be conducted in 65 different cities across India as per the zones or state location of the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs).
