The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has launched a new undergraduate programme. The newly launched programme includes B.Tech in Engineering and Computational Mechanics. The eligibility criteria for the new course will be JEE Advanced. Students who are successful in qualifying the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2020 will be eligible to join the course.
The Department of Applied Mechanics will offer the new course from the academic session 2020-21. Sanjeev Singh, Head of Department of Applied Mechanics, stated, “The graduates of this programme are likely to find the best technology jobs in core engineering and will also be very apt candidates for higher studies like Master’s and PhD in IIT Delhi as well as other leading national and international educational institutions.”
According to the official notification, issued by IIT Delhi, the students taking this course will be able to analyse complex interdisciplinary phenomena. These will be relevant to the problems in industry and cutting edge research. Experimentation, analysis and computation will be the key aspects of the new UG programme.
The B.Tech in Engineering and Computational Mechanics is aimed to expose students to recent trends in computational techniques and experiments, among others. It will provide a firm grounding in the fundamentals of engineering mechanics. Along with the tools, the students will learn to address areas such as biomechanics, nanomechanics, and constitutive modelling at multiple lengths.
