Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has introduced a new programme on healthcare informatics. The new programme will begin in the next academic session, which is 2022-23.
Subhasis Chaudhuri, IIT Bombay director, in a social post, informed, “We are happy to announce that IITB in its last Senate meeting has decided to start a very new academic program on Healthcare Informatics from the forthcoming academic season.”
The new programme will be available as both a minor and as an inter-departmental dual degree programme for B.Tech. IIT Bombay might also offer an M.tech degree in healthcare informatics. On this matter, Subhasis Chaudhari said: “We hope this new initiative will open up exciting opportunities for our graduates, including the possibility of doing startups in this niche domain.”
As per a Times of India report, the new programme will cover clinical data management, healthcare ethics and standards, modelling and data-efficient machine learning. He said that since we have limited healthcare resources, the introduction of new programmes will be an excellent opportunity to make a social impact.
