Quacquarelli Symonds abbreviated to QS has released its annual edition of World University Rankings 2020. Based on its findings, IIT Bombay is the best Indian university featuring at the 152nd position.
The ranking comprises of world’s top 1000 colleges that are seamlessly divided on the basis of several factors including subjects, location and study level to name a few. As per the QS World University Rankings 2020, MIT has secured the top spot followed by Stanford and Harvard University respectively. In terms of Indian Universities, IIT Bombay continues to hold the top spot among the Indian Universities. IIT Bombay is followed by IIT Delhi and Indian Institute of Science in the QS World University Rankings 2020. These are the only three universities in India that have made it to the top 200 universities in the world. According to the QS Rankings, IIT Bombay has jumped to 152nd rank from the 162nd rank in the year 2019. The Union HRD Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal, on achieving this milestone, took to his Twitter handle to congratulate the Indian Universities and added that the government will strive to improve the rankings of other Universities in the country. He said, “It is a proud moment that in the prestigious QS ranking, IIT-Bombay, IIT-Delhi, and IISc Bangalore have been included in the list of top 200 global universities.”
Though IIT Delhi and IISc have made it to the top 200 QS World University Rankings 2020 list, the ranks for both these institutes have fallen in the current list. IIT Delhi fell 10 ranks from 172nd position in 2019 to 182nd rank in 2020, while IISc slipped from 170th rank in 2019 to 184th rank in QS World University Rankings 2020 list.
Other Indian Universities that feature in the top 500 World University Rankings 2020 include IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, University of Delhi, IIT Guwahati and Jadavpur University.
