The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bhubaneswar’s final year students are gearing up for the online pre-placement rounds. According to the latest media reports, IIT Bhubaneswar witnessed an encouraging amount of pre-placement offers, the highest offer being an annual package of 43 lakhs. This move was unexpected in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. R.V. Raja Kumar, director of IIT Bhubaneswar, said: “The premier institute has seen a surge in PPOs this year with the offers received already equalling last year’s total offers and is sure to surpass.”
The first pre-placement round outcome has pepped up the final year engineering students. The news came out as a blessing for other students and a harbinger of bright prospects.
Innovation in the Face of Destruction
The entire pre-placement procedure will be conducted online. “The shift towards the virtual mode of hiring by organizations for the campus placements is sure to create a new trend of the hiring process,” said Dr A. K. Pradhan, Professor‐in‐charge, Career Development Cell, IIT Bhubaneswar.
Students and the recruiters, welcomed this move because it has indicated an optimistic momentum despite the trying situations. Candidates have worked hard the entire period of their graduation, and it should not be hampered because of the unprecedented times.
Most renowned companies like Microsoft, DeShaw, Goldman Sachs and GEP Solutions hire students based on their internships. This helps them to evaluate the skills of the candidate in real-time situations. The pre-placement rounds are in progress and are sure to be a success for the students.
