As per the notification released by IIM Kozhikode, it will be releasing the list of shortlisted candidates for admission to the MBA programmes based on the scores of the CAT 2019 examinations. The list of candidates will be released from May 8, 2020, onwards. The CAT 2019 examination was conducted by IIM Kozhikode on November 24, 2019, across the different examinations centres. In a notification released on the official website, the Institute stated that CAT 2019 recorded the highest number of CAT registrations in the last 10 years with a registration of 244,190 candidates, for the online exam. Out of this 209,926 candidates appeared for CAT 2019, which was conducted at 376 test centres spread across 156 cities in India. The notification also stated that CAT 2019 recorded the highest number of CAT test takers in the last 10 years. Even though it recorded the highest number of test takers, it was one of the smoothest of the CAT exams conducted.
Director IIM Kozhikode, Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, said that CAT 2019 was challenging not only in terms of the record of highest number of applicants but also due to the COVID-19 pandemic that emerged towards the concluding phase of the exam. But the IIMs managed the situation by adapting the latest technologies for conducting interviews. He also added that IIMs would be declaring the final PGP Short-List based on CAT 2019 results from May 08 onwards and that IIMs were eager to welcome the new batch.
Prof. Shubhasis Dey, Cat 2019 Convener, said that CAT 2019 saw an increase in Female-Male ratio at 35.73 %, in the number of appeared candidates, as compared to 35.02% in CAT 2018.
There is a three-staged selection process for admissions into the IIMs. They are:
- Stage-1: Registration of Candidates fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria
