Going by several media reports, the ICSE class 10 exam has been cancelled completely by the CISCE Board. The Board had earlier announced that it was cancelling the ICSE exam and postponing the ISC class 12 exam. In line with that announcement, class 10 students were given two options – either to appear in the exam at a later date or not to appear at all. Meanwhile, with the deteriorating COVID-19 situation in the country, the Board has taken the decision to cancel the ICSE class 10 exams completely.
Students of class 10 will be promoted based on the Assessment Criteria as decided by the CISCE Board. The criteria will be ‘fair and unbiased.’ The official authority, in a circular dated 19 April 2021 notified the schools and students about the decision to cancel the ICSE board exam completely. Amidst the worsening COVID-19 situation in the country, students and parents were concerned about the health and safety of their wards if they had to appear for the exam. Therefore, the CISCE board decided to withdraw the option for class 10 students to appear for the exam at a later date. Meanwhile, the ISC class 12 exams have been postponed. The board will hold a review meeting in June to discuss the feasibility of conducting the exam depending upon the situation at that time.
