HRD Minister Announces New Dates for JEE Main and NEET 2020

Colleges and Universities to Reopen from 16 November 2020 in Haryana

New dates for JEE Main and NEET exams have been announced by the Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank today, i.e., May 5, 2020. The Minister held a live webinar for students today in the afternoon at 12 PM. In the webinar, the minister responded to various questions, ranging from pending board exams to dates for national level entrance exams. One of the major announcements in the live webinar was about JEE Main and NEET exam dates.

During the webinar, Minister also asked the students to use the online learning platforms such as DIKSHA (an all language interactive curriculum), SWAYAM and others that have been developed by the MHRD to aid students in their learning processes at home. He added that the academic curriculum for next year has been reduced and the revised syllabus has been announced by the respective agencies.

For students in remote rural areas, HRD Ministry is easing the process of learning by making e-learning content available through SWAYAM Prabha – a television or DTH initiative that can telecast educational content. The channel has been made available to DD, tata sky, airtel TV and other platforms. SWAYAM Prabha Channel provides educational content from school level i.e., NCERT to college level curriculum.

In addressing a question on the lack of availability of NCERT textbooks and CBSE textbooks, the minister said that the Home Ministry has permitted stationary shops and shops selling educational books to remain open even during the lockdown. He also told the students to approach him and the ministry in case they are unable to find NCERT text book shops via Twitter and other platforms.

JEE Main 2020

The JEE (Main) is conducted twice every year (in the months of January and April) for admissions in the corresponding academic session. JEE (Main)-2020 will be conducted in the following manner:

About NEET 2020

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct National Eligibility cum Entrance Test 2020 (NEET – 2020) to admit candidates into MBBS/BDS Courses and other undergraduate medical courses in approved/recognized medical/dental institutes, across India.

NEET 2020 is a pen and paper-based test. This is to be answered on the specially designed machine gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen.
