The Gujarat Government has ordered the government and private colleges to close down till 30 April 2021 due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases. The Central University of Gujarat has also ordered the affiliated colleges to remain shut from 12 to 16 April 2021. All government and private colleges have been directed to conduct online classes.
Besides, hotels will also be closed, hence the university has ordered the hostellers to go home during this period. The authorities will open the colleges after reviewing the situation of COVID-19 in the state. As per the reports, around 20 to 25 staff members have been infected with COVID-19 in the university.
Officials said, “Since teaching is being done online, all hostels of the University shall also remain closed and all those who are staying in hostel are advised to go home. The University will not be responsible for those who are staying in hostels, for their safety. All non-teaching staff of the University shall continue to work from home in online mode.”
Hence, all schools and colleges will remain shut in the state until further notice. The decision has been taken in light of the sudden rise in the COVID-19 cases in the entire country. Online classes will be conducted for both school and college students until the situation is under control.
