GATE Exam Conducted Successfully on 6 & 7 February; Remaining Exams on 13 and 14 February

First-year Exams of Mumbai University to Conclude by 30 March 2021

The GATE 2021 exam was successfully conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, in online mode on 6 and 7 February 2021 in two shifts. The remaining ten subject-papers will be held on 13 February 2021 and 14 February 2021. As per the reports, about 4.95 lakh students appeared for the exam on the two days, and it is expected that around 4.2 lakh students will sit to give the exam on the remaining days. GATE is an entrance exam given by students who wish to pursue postgraduate programmes in engineering. The marks will be taken during recruitment for PSU 2021. Seven IITs hold GATE every year: Delhi Guwahati, Bombay, Kharagpur, Madras, Kanpur, Roorkee and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. The exam was conducted in an online mode due to the on-going pandemic and followed the COVID-19 norms.

Two new papers have been introduced in this year’s GATE exam, which are Environmental Science and Engineering (ES) and Humanities and Social Sciences (XH) in English/ Linguistics/ Economics/ Philosophy/ Sociology/ Psychology. The GATE 2021 syllabus has also been reduced for this year. Anyone can take the exam without any age limit criteria. Also, the GATE 2021 scorecard is valid for three years.

Students who qualify for the exam can apply to CCMT for NIT MTech and COAP for IIT MTech admission. They will be required to fill out COAP 2021 and CCMT 2021 counselling separately to get admission to the desired institutes. The GATE exam measures the students’ comprehensive knowledge, which is required to get admission into various undergraduate and postgraduate engineering courses.
