GATE 2021 6th February 1st Shift Exam Analysis

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national level competitive exam conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). The exam is scheduled for 6, 7, 13 and 14 February 2021. Today, on 6 February 2021, the first shift of the GATE exam was conducted from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The paper was for three subjects – Civil Engineering – 1 (CE-1), Instrumentation Engineering (IN), and chemistry (CY).

GATE Exam Analysis for Shift 1

The GATE exam assesses the candidates’ comprehensive knowledge and offers admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate engineering courses. GATE is one of the most challenging exams in the country. However, for the first shift of 6 February exam, the paper was summarised not so tough. MCQ’s were less, and NAT’s were more. 

GATE CE-1 Analysis – Many questions were based on aptitude. Questions were asked from topics like sheer strength, steel, speed density relation, fluid. More focus is on Geo-Technology. As per the student’s review, the paper was not very difficult. The paper consisted of Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) including 7-8 questions and NAT type of questions. Questions were asked from topics like SOM, Sheer strength, steel, Speed density relation. The most asked questions were from transportation, environmental engineering, and geo technology.

GATE IN Analysis – Only 4-5 were MSQ questions. According to the student, the instrumentation paper was moderate. Topics covered in the paper were rectifier, diode, and control system. The difficulty level of GATE IN paper was moderate. Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) were asked from topics such as Rectifier, Control System, Diode, etc. Students didn’t face much difficulty in solving the questions as every question was asked from the given syllabus only.
