GATE 2020 Exam Schedule Announced by IIT Delhi


All interested candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria to appear for the examination. Only the eligible aspirants who meet all the criteria will be allowed to appear for the 2020 edition of the test. The registration can be done via the online mode only on the official exam website No offline application will be entertained by the authorities. The last date for registration is September 24 with the provision of an extended deadline of October 1, 2019, respectively.

Furthermore, the IIT Director V Ramgopal Rao stated that “Over one million engineering graduates are expected to take the GATE exam in 2020. The exam has become a benchmark now and there is no equivalent exam in the world which is conducted at the stage and quality.”

Announcement of Results

The GATE 2020 will be a computer-based exam being held two sessions per day. It will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions carrying 1 or 2 marks each in all the papers and sections. While applying for GATE 2020, candidates have to select 3 cities among the list. Candidates can choose the first 2 exam venues from the same zone and select the 3rd center from any other zone.

GATE is conducted jointly by the IISC Bangalore and seven IITs including Kanpur, Delhi, Madras, Roorkee, Guwahati, Bombay and Kharagpur on behalf of National Coordination Board (NCB). GATE 2020 exam is mandatory for anyone seeking admission to master’s program and direct doctoral programs in Technology, Engineering, and Architecture.

Nearly 80 Indian colleges (IITs, NITs & other govt. funded institutions) offers post-graduate degree through GATE 2020. The primary purpose of the GATE exam is to test the candidate’s knowledge of his Under Graduate Engineering and Science Subjects. Aspirants who qualify in this test are eligible to get admission into the M.Tech and M.Sc courses in various institutes across India.

Every year over 10 lakh candidates appear for the engineering entrance exam of which only 15 to 17% candidates qualify. It is a national level engineering entrance test that is conducted for 25 papers and subjects across different cities in the country and six cities outside India namely Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, UAE, and Ethiopia respectively.
