Lakshadweep Schools Adopt CBSE Curriculum: The Lakshadweep Administration has announced its decision to shift the schools under the department from SCERT Kerala Malayalam Medium Syllabus to CBSE English Medium Syllabus. The process for Lakshadweep Schools adopt CBSE Curriculum has been started the preliminary preparation for the migration process of the schools and associated resources. The schools will exclusively admit students to class I in the CBSE syllabus from the academic year 2024-25.

The order by the director of education, Lakshadweep explained the necessity of shifting to the new CBSE 2024 syllabus. The order highlighted that the goal of the migration is to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge, that will help their future academic and professional pursuits. The substantial role the CBSE plays in preparing students for competitive examinations and 21st-century skills was also emphasized in the order.
Furthermore, grade 2 to 8 students that were so far studying under the existing Malayalam medium SCERT classes will be converted to the CBSE syllabus. The class 9 and 10 students will be systematically converted within two years. measure will taken so that minimal disruption happens to the coming board examination.
The move is in the positive direction as the students would have been studying the SCERT board till now will be able to move to a central board. This will help them greatly in expanding their future potential. The decision is also in accordance with the NEP 2020. As the students will also become more proficient in English, it will certainly better their opportunities.
